Here is an observation. How and when did Nanning become a hub for foreigners and locals to meet? Almost all of the threads that I've read on this forum for Nanning were about a foreigner meeting a local woman, getting married and so forth. Thoughts, comments, observations are welcome. Thank you. I don't think it is a hub as you describe. Certainly a lot less than many other cities in China.
It could be that it is because there is nothing else to talk about when it comes to Nanning. I was there 2 weeks ago and don't plan to return. And, by the way, the ladies there are not particularly attractive, in my humble opinion. I have been to Nanning twice a year since It is a wonderful city.
It is the center for their Asian Expo, which brings in foreign companies from all over the world. Yes, it is also undergoing changes as China's economic outlook changes. You are right there are also many sites that promote marriage, but so do many cities in China , and other countries around the world. It's sort of a foreigner's hippie hangout in Nanning. So more locals there tend to speak better English. And frankly, I think there is a scam going on.
At best, these women want to get out of China and hopefully don't run away after settling down with the new husbands. Nanning is a beautiful city because it's so friendly and the people are so helpful I have visit the city four times now there is quite a few Westerners living there married to Nanning Ladies not every lady is looking for a western passport.
I've decided one day I will go live there myself. The women there have marriage to Westerners down to a science. There are some honest women but they are the minority. The "Suckers", oops I mean Westerners fall over themselves when a young woman pays some attention to them. And let's not for the SEX, whoopie an old man getting sex from a younger woman is the icing on the cake.
